TEACHING METHOD OF THE TEACHER

The teaching method in Elementary Departement is fun learning approach and mostly Project Based Learning. This consists of learning through series of activities and games to incorporate knowledge to the students and teacher mixed games or activities related to the subject. Upon my observation during the 1st week, I have observed in the all grade elementary, I found all students are very active and respond positively to every lesson. Students are also very polite and greet every time they meet the teacher on the street. According to one of my cooperating teacher, she stated that in her class she also likes to elicit the psychomotor skills of the students and would like them to move around instead of being passive learners, she also instill small things like greeting and politeness in accordance with the religious teachings that are taught to them.

LEARNING MATERIALS, TECHNOLOGY USED, AUTHENTIC ASSESSMENTS

The teachers in Elementary Departement, use lesson plans as their learning material. The lesson plans they make are all in English, the student books are also all in English, except for Filipino, Manners, and History. In the Philippines teachers use English as the language of instruction. In the lower grades 1, 2 they still use Tagalog, in grade 3 they start mixing tagalog and English, and starting in the upper grades 4, 5, 6 they are full English. In lieu of this, the lesson plans is being used to create worksheets or activities that will be given to the students per meeting. It also consists authentic assessment that the teacher gives at the end of the discussion. The teacher also maximizes the use of technology by using websites that consists of games or fun activities that the students will enjoy. Additionally, PowerPoint presentations are also being used by the teacher to discuss the topic of the day. At the end of the session there's usually an evaluation like a seatwork, activity, or short quiz.
